What I do

Product Development and Management

I'm currently working as a Software Developer at Zebra Technologies. I've been with Zebra for almost three years now, and have had the opportunity of working on multiple large scale projects.

RE4000, a completely integrated cost-effective surface mount RFID reader module, is one of Zebra's newest products. As the Lead Java Developer on this project, I took complete ownership of the RFID SDK, to develop a library that adds a comprehensive set of APIs to easily create applications for Zebra's handheld devices. My role involved conducting and leading daily meetings across global teams to keep everyone up-to-date and chalking out timelines for the RFID SDK releases. I took complete ownership of the product from Proof of Concept through completion, and geared up for target users across 40 countries, with prime usage in North America, European Union, and India.
I also developed an Android RFID SDK to enable RE4000’s integration with mobile android devices and delivered the same for integration with Zebra’s Smart Watch to enable enhanced inventory operations and reader configuration modifications.

My role on the DCS (Data Capture Solutions) Scanner team was more customer facing, as it involved providing pre-sales support to multiple external customers(including major stalwarts such as Amazon, Woolsworth Australia, PetSmart, Target, to name a few). I had to collaborate between these customers and the internal teams to convert their business objectives into optimized software features, and prioritize tasks based on customer requirements, whilst providing technical support for customer issues. Delivering the requirements on schedule and providing timely customer support garnered appreciation from internal teams and clientele alike.

As a developer on the Advanced System Development Team, I created backend microservices in Java and DotNet using SpringBoot and .NetCore frameworks for Zebra’s retail solution, Smartlens, to provide inventory visibility to monitor and view real-time events in a store, to maximize sales and minimize shrink and operational costs, thus taking customer service to a new level.

Internship

Zebra Technologies

I worked in the Chief Technology Office at Zebra Technologies in the Summer of 2017 as a Software Intern, as part of the ‘Smart Freight’ team, and developed an accurate freight dimensioning system for FedEx using computer vision techniques. I achieved a higher detection accuracy of 0.8cm thickness, against the expected accuracy of 2cm thickness, through a new computer vision API. This also accelerated the application development lifecycle and I was lauded for the same.

Hearts and Minds

I worked as a UX intern at a nonprofit organization and helped redesign the company website, to quickly expand cost efficient programs to help end global poverty. I came up with new designs for the website, built the same using WordPress, and ran multiple iterations of reviewing (feedback system) across the team and Board, before incorporating the same as a part of the official website.

Health Sciences Library: Stony Brook Medicine

I worked as the Staff Manager at the Health Sciences Library in Stony Brook Hospital and lead the library staff to efficiently handle reorganizing the library, directing, evaluating library operations, tracking movement of both library assets and people.I managed the vast library database to facilitate smooth transactions, with respect to student memberships and library assets handling. My responsibilities also included providing training and conducting mini workshops regarding the library tasks to new trainees.
